Hecate. Sterling Silver & Labradorite Ring.

$200.00

Considered one of the ancient goddess, and in some tales, the only Titan allowed to retain her authority after the Olympians seized control, Hecate is a triple faced goddess associated with witchcraft, the Underworld and its subsequent entities such as the dead and ghosts as well as being known for her maternal instincts and her ability to accept the strange nature of people.

Known also as a Moon goddess, Hecate was said to be Persephone's consort during her seasonal time in the Underworld. Her ease in the Underworld has also made her the goddess of liminal spaces such as crossroads and different spiritual planes. As a guardian she is often called upon for protection, especially over women.

Here, Hecate is represented by her Moon nature in the form of the Labradorite, a sister stone to moonstone as part of the Feldspar family and also personally associated with Hecate for its unique luminescent qualities. A naturally beautiful stone that, like the goddess, also carries many faces as the lovely flash of color changes depending on the way you hold your hand, as well as the way light and shadow hits it.

Growing up I had a lot of Labradorite jewelry, given to me for their helping properties, in particular for their ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases.

It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.

***Please note that Labradorite is a natural stone so clarity and color will vary from stone to stone. Labradorite has natural lines and inclusions and varies in shades of green (teal, swamp green, olive green) to shades of (light grey to dark) blue.
