Ancient Time { Northern Lights Chapter II }

In labradorite lore, some Ancient Inuits believed that labradorite was some of the Aurora Borealis ( Northern Lights ) that had fallen from the sky and were imprisoned within the stones. I'm not sure if this sourcing is correct which is why I've never referenced it before, but I'm mentioning it now because I feel it's important to in case it is true, because of the name of this strand. I've never felt more connected to this idea, of the stones being connected to the Aurora Borealis, then working with these specific spheres. These stones contain the most varied colors I've seen before and are our most highest quality labs. I've caught colors of orange, goldenrod yellow, teal, olive green, bright and navy blues and even purple within these beads. They are truly astonishing. They radiate what feels to me, like a magic light. It's incredible to me that the earth made these.

The Northern Lights are beautiful because the have the backdrop of the night sky to illuminate them. Perhaps you're feeling a bit 'imperfect' in how you're moving through the world these days and its my hope that you know its ok to be feeling however you're feeling, and especially, that you're not alone in feeling this way, whether you are purchasing this strand or not, just here reading what I have to say.

For those who do make a home for this piece, I hope they become special to you, I hope they stay with you and become alive to you, a talisman of dazzling light.

This strand is composed of graduated, round, glowing labradorite spheres with small sterling silver spacers in between.

Additionally, and new to chapter II, I was also thinking of the Goddess Circe when making this strand : the golds reminded me of her lions and the greens spoke of her plant magic : as labradorite is known as one of the most ‘magic’ imbued stones in all of stone lore it feels fitting to associate this stone with a Goddess of magic.

Labradorite is known for its healing properties, in particular for its ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to protect against more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases.

It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' Moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.

As they are entirely natural, earth made stones, color and clarity will vary from stone to stone.  Labradorite has natural lines and inclusions and varies in shades of green (teal, swamp green, olive green) to shades of (light grey to dark) blue.

These jewels are hand cut and therefore may have very slight differences in size and may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. These are not fabricated by a machine, they are made by hand and therefore aren't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stones and the cuts.

Designed to be worn closer to the neck, this strand measures approximately 21.5 inches long from end to end, including clasp. At its closure is our Hour Glass clasp in sterling silver, oxidized to our favorite gloomy grey and and finished to highlight the shining silver beneath. As a special, bold statement piece, it also layers beautifully with other BloodMilk necklaces.

This strand is handmade to order, just for you, with care and focus. Please allow approximately 5 weeks for its creation before shipping.

Some of the beads used in this strand are limited. We can not anticipate whether or not this particular style will be available again after this release.
