Belonging to The Underworld ring. Moonstone & Sterling Silver. (High Polish Finish)

*Please note that this version features a high polish finish with no oxidization. Any 'darkness' on the ring that appears to be oxidation are just shadows laying across the ring from the way I prefer to photograph my pieces. *

Inspired by my ‘Belonging to The Darkness” ring series which embodies themes from the Persephone myth, this ring is a smaller, taller version.

This ring is akin to an "engagement" ring, created in homage to the goddess Persephone, wife of Hades and Queen of the Underworld. Personally, it represents a way of showing a commitment, a belonging to something or someone, an idea, a specific period of time in your life, an emotion, and more potently, to the notion of belonging to yourself. This ring can also symbolize elements / aspects / memories that we are looking to let go of but still want represented in our lives, as such is the complex nature of the Persephone myth.

Much like its larger counterpart, this ring is comprised of an antique setting manipulated with my beloved sparrow claws grasping each side. A stunning, 8mm faceted dome shaped moonstone has been set in the ring, acting as the precious jewel the claws are cradling / guarding.

Moonstone is one of my absolute favorite natural stones, at its name suggests, it is closely tied to the moon, with some cultures believing the stone is solidified moon rays, while others think of it as embodiments of the moon's tears. Acting as a kind of armor, it is thought to protect its wearer from not only dark nights, but also dark times as it helps sooth grief, loss and other emotional turbulence. It is also a great tool for meditation and clairvoyance, & has been used in jewelry since ancient times for both its unique beauty and magical qualities.

As a romantic stone: moonstone is thought to keep the passion alive between lovers when one gives it to another, especially during a full moon, making it perfect for the original intent of this ring.

Moonstone is a natural stone and therefore has qualities that differ from stone to stone. These are milky rose cut domed moonstones, with natural inclusions and have small, brilliant flashes of shades of blue, teal and gold. If you are concerned about the stone I will use for your special piece, please contact me after purchase and I will work with you.

This ring is entirely cast in sterling silver & hand hand polished to achieve an elegantly shiny finish.

The ring is 0.9 of an inch (23.1 mm) at its widest and 1.04 inches tall (26.6 mm). It stands 0.3 of an inch (9.9mm) off the finger, making this much smaller than my other rings and comfortable for everyday wear.

*This design is forthcoming in rose cut Labradorite and Onyx. If interested in either of these versions, please contact me for more info and pre-sale.

IMPORTANT:

*Please note that this version features a high polish finish with no oxidization. Any 'darkness' on the ring that appears to be oxidation are just shadows laying across the ring from the way I prefer to photograph my pieces. *
