Before The Tower falls, before that moment of revelation or divine insight/intervention, is The Tower as the furnace for the philosopher’s stone. Jodordorsky thought so - interestingly. When I think of The Tower before the fall, I think of the structures in Remedios Varo’s paintings, how her femme figures would feed crescent moons with star dust, and an endless cycle of cosmic regeneration….

With this strand, as a talismanic vessel, I was thinking of a writer in the Tower, writing the stories of themselves, of the world, writing by moonlight, by ghostlight, with the ink of their hair, ink made from the ash of their hair, the ash of the bones of their ancestors, ash of the Phoenix's nest, ash made from the pyre of their letters to everyone they loved, burned like incense smoke as prayers … This strand is a poem of ghosts (represented by the ‘lights of the Tourmalated Quartz beads), a spell for healing the regrets of the past and specifically the past few years, its writing letters by the light of our ghosts in the furnace of alchemy - the alchemy of change. I wish that for you, and I wish that for me. 

This strand is composed of rudilated quartz spheres and tiny hollow sterling silver 'Pearl' beads that have been hand oxidized and lightly polished. It measures approximately 42 inches long from end to end, including clasp.

This 'Opera Length' makes it possible for wearing doubled up as well as at its full length. Designed to compliment other Onyx jewels in the Mourning/Ritual bead line it also layers beautifully with other BloodMilk necklaces. Its light weight also makes it perfect to use for meditation or ritual practices. 

At its closure is our smaller, double sided Séance clasp cast in sterling silver.
