Blood Milk Jewels
Moirai Ring with Labradorite.
The Moirai ( mɔɪraɪ ) were born of The Queen of Night, Nyx, who was a primordial Goddess considered to be the Mother of all creation according to the Orphic Hymns; other accounts have her born of chaos. Also known as the three Fates, the Moirai echoed the trinity of Maiden, Mother, Crone, or the natural progression of life. Their names were Clotho ( the Spinner ), Lachesis ( the Allotter ) and Atropos, ( the Cutter), representing the potential, creativity, fulfillment and ultimate end of life.
I don’t know how much I believe in fate or destiny aside from romantic notions tied to love and friendship – but I do enjoy moments of synchronicity and. I like to believe my own fate is in my hands despite the systems that might be working against me ( or the possible sci-fi scenarios of being in a Matrix like simulation ) but again, most of what we know about the future is unknown, and the past, despite being ‘written’ seems to change and shift anytime we look back as our memories degrade. The present appears to be what we have, what we are ‘allotted’ what we spin and weave for ourselves and in that way, we are the Moirai, maybe in control of only so little, day to day, especially these days. The present is here, as you read this, as you consider what is important to you, what you will do next, what you will think next, what magic for yourself and others you will spin and weave with your thoughts, with what you can, with what you have, until your cord is cut.
Bats and their cast wing and leg bones have long been a component I’ve used in my visual library as a way of creating a personal visual language. As nocturnal creatures, I feel a kinship with their natural predilection for the night time hours, but I’m also interested in how they use sonar to ‘see’, how as a metaphor bats as liminal creatures also remind us to look closer with our other senses, a way of ‘seeing the unseen.’ It’s my hope and intention that pairing them with other chthonic imagery and myth further adds to the visual meaning I’m aiming for, creating a collage of personal ideas while also tethering these physical jeweled objects to the spirit of the bat ( and other natural objects in the case of other jewels in my collection ) and to the spirit of the myths I’m invoking.
This ring is inspired by our much beloved and long retired ‘The Witches’ ring in that it has a triangle shape. The triangle is an ancient symbol, akin to the pyramid, and can be worn with its apex facing up or down, depending on ascent or descent, how you’d like to focus your feelings or power ( or also just how you’d like to aesthetically wear it. )
Life cast bat bones were manipulated to cradle a trillion cut gemstone. Cast in sterling silver silver, each piece is oxidized to achieve our signature shade of stormy gray and the hand finished to reveal.
-Sits 6mm off of the finger

Labradorite is known for its healing properties, in particular for its ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to protect against more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases.
It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' Moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.
As they are entirely natural, earth made stones, color and clarity will vary from stone to stone. Labradorite has natural lines and inclusions and varies in shades of green (teal, swamp green, olive green) to shades of (light grey to dark) blue. If you have any concerns over the stone that will be chosen for you, please contact us after making your purchase so we may best assist you.
These jewels are hand cut and therefore may have very slight differences in size and may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. These are not fabricated by a machine, they are made by hand and therefore aren't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stones and the cuts.
