Blood Milk Jewels

Phantom Globe. Labradorite & Sterling Silver.

Sold out

This ring is extremely limited based on the small number of stones we have in the studio. For this reason we are unable to accept stone preference requests of any kind.

While labradorite varies quite a bit in color, these stones are mostly blue to dark blue, often with grey striations and some with 'glitter' under the stone.

Please enter your ring size in the notes section during check-out, or email us after placing your order. We can not begin creating your ring until your size is confirmed.

 Text from late 2010~

"Living alone on her phantom globe, beautiful and dressed in her dreams." - Max Ernst.

This ring has many threads of inspiration. For a while, I've been wanting to make a 'fortune telling' ring and in part this resembles my first version of this inspiration of a crystal ball. Divination and communicating with the spirit world have been inspirations for me since my trip to Lily Dale last summer. The idea of being able to use a stationary object to communicate with those crossed over, or with the inner psyche, a means of communicating with ones self (inner alchemy).

Also, I'm often inspired by the collages of Max Ernst & recently got a hold of a copy of his first collage novel, 'La Femme 100 Têtes' or '100 headless women'. There is a section in the novel that explores a phantom globe & this idea of a globe existing within these surreal landscapes inspired me.

Labradorite is known for its healing properties, in particular for its ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to protect against more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases.

It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' Moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.

As they are entirely natural, earth made stones, color and clarity will vary from stone to stone.  These particular labradorite stones have natural lines and inclusions and vary in shades of light grey to dark blue.

These jewels are hand cut and therefore may have very slight differences in size and may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. These are not fabricated by a machine, they are made by hand and therefore aren't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stones and the cuts.
