Based on the pattern of the Witching Hour - the Witching Other contains a similar talismanic sentiment and what it feels like to be slightly out of step with everyone else, especially these days:

The Witching Hour is an antiquated phrase ( going back possibly as far as 1535 ) representing the hour of night when magic, witchery, ghosts, and other 'supernatural' phenomena are at their most potent. In this way, it represents a kind of nightly 'thinning of the veil', when the membrane between our world and 'the other world' are most thin. There has been historical arguments over when this hour exactly occurs, with some people believing it to be between Midnight and 1am, others believing it to be between 3am and 4am. The 3-4am time period has also been said to correlate to when our brain activity is more skewed to creative thinking. With these ideas in mind, this strand can be used as a talisman to assist in creative/magical energy/states of being. 

Additionally, The Witching Hour also refers to a time when we are in REM sleep and can become subject to intense night disturbances such as visits from the shadow people/ the Old Hag, sleep paralysis, sleepwalking and other sleep disruptions that can feel supernatural. As someone who has experienced some of these intense experiences, the secondary idea of this strand is to be a protection from this time of night, as well as to be a balm should you awaken in a frightful state.

This strand is composed of star cut onyx, smooth round onyx, spinel, and hollow sterling silver 'Pearl' beads that have been hand oxidized and lightly polished. It measures approximately 35.5 inches long from end to end, including clasp.

This 'Opera Length' makes it perfect for wearing doubled up as well as at its full length. Designed to compliment other Onyx jewels in the Mourning/Ritual bead line it also layers beautifully with other BloodMilk necklaces.

Onyx:

Onyx is best known for being a natural stone that acts as a kind of 'psychic armor' against the negativity of others. It is also used to sooth grief and heartbreak. It's a wonderful grounding stone and stone of self mastery, enabling its wearers to have mental and spiritual focus.

These beads are hand cut and therefore may have very slight differences in size and may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. These are not fabricated by a machine, they are made by hand and therefore aren't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stones and the cuts. 

Each bead has been hand selected for its quality.

Spinel:

Spinel is a potent stone for healing and protection: working to help clear intense emotions such as anger and rage, it imbues its wearer with a sense of calm. It is also used to heal the physical body and has powerful metaphysical qualities, helping its wearer to feel strong, assisting with perseverance, especially when dealing with issues from the past that have become difficult to overcome. Much like Onyx, it also helps repel negativity from others.
