Belonging To The Underworld Part II: Labradorite

Inspired by my ‘Belonging to The Darkness” ring series which embodies themes from the Persephone myth, this version is an update of the original 'Belonging to the Underworld' ring and features an antique setting married to two bat wing bones.

This ring is akin to an "engagement" ring, created in homage to the goddess Persephone, wife of Hades and Queen of the Underworld. Personally, it represents a way of showing a commitment, a belonging to something or someone, an idea, a specific period of time in your life, an emotion, and more potently, to the notion of belonging to yourself. This ring can also symbolize elements / aspects / memories that we are looking to let go of but still want represented in our lives: a symbol of self acceptance despite there being aspects of oneself that's undesirable or repressed. For me personally, it's a symbol of my ongoing journey of accepting my melancholia & ( at times ) paralyzingly sensitivity. It's a symbol of being strong & vulnerable. A symbol of meeting your shadow and allowing it to stay.

Details:

-Sits 10mm off of the finger

Labradorite is known for its healing properties, in particular for its ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to protect against more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases. It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.

****Please note that Labradorite is a natural stone so clarity and color will vary from stone to stone. Labradorite has natural lines and inclusions and varies in shades of green, gray and blue
