Inspired by older pieces of BloodMilk, this jewel features a tourmalated quartz tear that freely swings, suspended within life cast boa ribs in the shape of a crescent moon. 

This jewel was created in homage to some of the first pieces I designed in the beginning of BloodMilk and is composed with the same life cast boa ribs used in those early pieces. These snake ribs have been used in other, countless pieces and in this way, this singular snake lives on through all those who have worn its silver ribs. I love to think that everyone who wears its ribs is a tiny bit connected.

This design is meant to be a talisman of protection and features three of my most prominent symbols: the moon, the snake, and the single tear. Just as the ribcage protects vital organs, such as the heart, these snake ribs are meant to be an additional layer of guardianship. Wear as a companion in times of grief, anxiety, or during other moments of turbulent emotion. It can also be worn as a travel talisman, for safety or luck while crossing thresholds away from home or while navigating spaces that feel unpleasant/unsafe.

Black Tourmaline Quartz: is a variety of clear quartz with naturally occurring needle-like inclusions of black tourmaline. Quartz is a considered the 'Master Healer, and is known for its propensity to improve memory and bring clarity to the consciousness. In this way, it is also a helpful tool in meditation. Black Tourmaline is well known for its protection qualities acting as psychic armor against negativity and psychic attacks. 

This jewel is hand cut and therefore may have small signs of the carver's hands. As this has not been fabricated by a machine, it has been made by hand and therefore isn't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stone.
