The bat bone pentacle was designed as a sister to the Lily Dale pentacle as its shares the same exact snake rib ouroboros. Inspired by the idea of getting and integrating ones shadow self, the snake and bat both stand in for 'dark creatures' that are often feared and kept in misunderstanding.

Although pentacles are often mis-associated with "evil", one of their many uses is that it is thought to ward off "evil" for it's wearer. They are protective amulets, typically worn around the neck during rituals and have also appeared in the tarot, marking them as divinatory tools as well.

The five pointed star represents the four recognizable elements, fire, water, air and earth, the fifth being spirit. In this way, it is also a symbol of balance as each of these elements is perfectly balanced within the crossing lines of the star. It is also seen as a circle of life, as the circle has no end and no beginning, hence my use of snake rib bones as a wink to the Ouroboros, another ancient, magical symbol that is shown as a circular snake eating it's own tail, the eternal return.

The inclusion of bat wing and leg bones to form the star is in homage to the winged night creature who can 'see' not by using its eyes, but by utilizing its other senses such as its hearing and echo location.

The pentacle is cast in solid sterling silver, entirely of bones molded from real life, paired with bat bone split ring band and hand oxidized to achieve my particular shade of gloomy gray.

- Approximately 63mm ( almost 2 1/2 inches ) from the tip of the highest bone, to the tail of the lowest bone 

- Sits about 7mm off of the finger
