41 tourmalated quartz beads in a graduated pattern make up this ritual strand, each bead stunning enough that it could be set into its own pendant or ring. Paired with sterling silver spacer beads, this dramatic necklace is striking enough to be worn on its own but can easily be layered with other necklaces due to its shorter length.

This marriage of two gemstones: clear quartz and black tourmaline, is fascinating to me. I've always thought the needle like black threads of tourmaline looked like strands of black hair forever trapped in glass, akin to Victorian mourning hair memorials and the fairy tale of Snow White asleep in her glass coffin. When the tourmaline appears finer and more delicate, I think of the soft hair of black cats. That these crystals grow deep underground, formed due to heat and pressure, often millions of years old before shaped into beads, adds another layer of fascination for me, and perhaps you as well.
