 A life cast barred owl jaw bone guards a two fine cut tourmalated quartz stones.

The nocturnal owl, long associated with the wisdom and knowledge of the unseen realms is paired with the lunar pearl in a dream talisman. The jaw, standing in for the dark corridor of the shell, behaves as the mouth piece for dream recall.

There's something about owls that make me think of grandmothers, perhaps this has to do with my own and the abundant collection of owls she gathered when I was a child. I believe for a certain generation, this is true of most grandmothers, and we look to this magnificent and foreboding bird as signs and messengers of our ancestors. The dream realm is a place where our beloved dead visit us, and perhaps we can remember their messages as we wake.
