Based on the tale 'The girl' of fictionist Stacey Levine's surreal & painfully beautiful/strange new book of tales and stories 'The girl with brown fur' is a tiny 'X' or crossed bones necklace formed from tiny mouse bones cast immortal in sterling silver. The small 'X' has been hand oxidized in a steamy potion to create my signature haunted & gloomy gray/black, the look of a storm brewing or the shadowy space between black and white.

Stacey contacted me awhile back to discuss a possibility of creating a piece of jewelry based on the feral & strange character in 'The girl', & i jumped at the chance. Being formally trained as a writer, this felt like a dream (as she) her work has been an inspiration to me for years . . . .

In the strange story the girl wears a necklace of mouse beads which was the initial inspiration. However, to put my bloodmilk twist on it, i searched around for mouse bones that i finally sourced from an owl pellet . . ., also, in the tale, the girl has a large X scar on her body, which echoes the small 'X' of the necklace. These elements are separate from the tale in that I created them in my own voice, & yet they are connected as the initial inspiration was in the writing & in the oddness of the girl.
