Composed of a marriage between the distant past & the present, this delicate mourning strand features jet beads salvaged from a disintegrating Victorian era mourning garment, Onyx spheres, black spinel & sterling life cast barred owl vertebrae. Its long length enables the wearer to potentially double up the strand around the neck, creating the appearance of two necklaces. 

Due to their eerie calls and their nocturnal activity, many ancient cultures associated owls with death and grief, while others, in contrast, considered them to be symbols of wisdom and intuition. This strand is inspired by a blending of these beliefs, and is meant to be a balm during the long nights of winter, ruled by the spirits, when mourning and traditions of remembrance of those who have come before us are honored. Wear in comfort, for beauty, or in memory of someone lost. The vertebrae, representing strength, are highly tactile and can be held between the fingers during times of anxiety, melancholy or other moments of emotional turbulence for grounding.

- At this strands closure is our Medium, double sided, sterling silver Eye talisman clasp. 

- Approximately 44.5 inches in length including clasp

-  Medium Eye Clasp, silver beads, cast owl vertebrae, and jump rings are all Solid Sterling Silver, hand oxidized to achieve our favorite gloomy grey and finished to highlight the shining silver beneath. 

- The clasp is tactile in nature making it easily held between the tips of your fingers and rubbed for comfort in times of grief, anxiety, dissociation, as well as during moments of joy and wonder.

Onyx:

Onyx is best known for being a natural stone that acts as a kind of 'psychic armor' against the negativity of others. It is also used to sooth grief and heartbreak. It's a wonderful grounding stone and stone of self mastery, enabling its wearers to have mental and spiritual focus.

Spinel:

Spinel is a potent stone for healing and protection: working to help clear intense emotions such as anger and rage, it imbues its wearer with a sense of calm. It is also used to heal the physical body and has powerful metaphysical qualities, helping its wearer to feel strong, assisting with perseverance, especially when dealing with issues from the past that have become difficult to overcome. Much like Onyx, it also helps repel negativity from others.
