A stunning strand of opal beads are married to our smallest size of sterling silver beads. Each opal has been selected and strung for its beauty, though its interplay of colors vary across the spectrum. Some opals are more opaque and have a bluish hue while others seem to crackle with pink and red fire. Others seem to contain the glitter of the stars as if set against the brilliance of the sun. I consider strands such as these to be more akin to wearing a 'string of rings' as each bead appears to be a world of its own, radiating with a self- contained cosmos, beautiful enough to exist on its own in a ring setting. I like thinking of how each new wearer will get lost in the vivid 'life' every single opal has to offer.

Created underground and ancient ~ Opals are sensitive. I imagine them dreaming underground, nestled inside the earth as they are formed over years, their kaleidoscope of colors latticed by way of water that trickles down from pockets of moving earth or decaying fossils. Just like us, water gives them their form, their vibrancy, their life. 

Historically, one of the metaphysical properties of Opal is its healing qualities, especially assisting in the healing of eyesight. For me, this could metaphorically mean assisting in meditation, observation, peering into other realms, especially in aiding in seeing more clearly when one is traveling in ‘underground’ places such as the unconscious { shadow }, or in the dreaming realm. Opals feel like candle light to me, flames of color illuminating the way like tiny torches. Fire you can wear, cup in your hand, hold against your body when feeling in a dark place.

At its closure is our is our smallest eye clasp, cast in sterling silver, oxidized to our favorite gloomy grey and burnished to highlight the shining silver beneath. This clasp is tactile in nature making it easily held between the tips of your fingers and rubbed for comfort in times of grief, anxiety, dissociation, as well as during moments of joy and wonder.

Opals vary significantly in color and these specific beads feature a full spectrum of blue, yellow, pink, green, red and orange flashes. Each bead is hand selected for its quality. Because these are very limited, we are unable to accommodate specific color requests. 

As noted above, opals are the most sensitive of the 'stones' we offer. Please wear and store with care, especially around water.
