Blood Milk Jewels

* Ready to Ship * The Crepuscular Hour. Cat Claws & Labradorite Necklace.

$425.00

Please noteThis necklace is Ready to Ship and will leave the studio in 1 - 5 business days. The chain is 18 inches in length. If you would like a different chain length you must email us with your desired length immediately after placing your order.

These photos are not of the exact stone you will receive. This labradorite pear is a glowy teal, with green sneaking in from the top. The striations are really interesting faded black fine hairs that almost look like dark gray frost on a labradorite window.

If you purchase this item with any other jewel, please be aware that our jewelry is handmade to order and takes approximately 6-8 weeks to create before shipping, meaning your Ready to Ship jewel will ship with the rest of your order. This cuts down on multiple shipping costs for you, and unnecessary waste for the environment.

Last Winter, my family adopted two cats that walked into their yard from the woods of North Carolina. Young, playful and sweeter than they perhaps should be, these two cats are the first my family has ever owned after a lifetime of dogs, due to my superstitious grandmother. One is a classic tabby and one is a black cat they named in honor of my own black cat Diego who’s been gone now since the winter of 2019. Since they were already a bonded pair, they play throughout the night, waking my family with their antics and disheveling the furniture, even recently breaking a lamp. This nighttime activity, which many of us call ‘The Witching Hour’ for our cats nighttime zoomies, is a biological instinct called ‘The Crepuscular Hour’ which refers to animals that are active around dawn or dusk, such as cats, whose inherent hunting activities during these hours when prey are also active, cause them to be alert and rambunctious in domestic settings.

Here, the ‘tumble’ of cat claws plays out this wild hunt, whether it's playing with other cat mates, walking over your head while you're sleeping, or knocking over objects in your home, startling you awake. This jewel is also meant as a memorial piece to those who have lost cats, in honor of my Diego, as evidenced by the tear shaped gemstone below which is a long time symbol of grief in our library of jewels.

Labradorite:

Labradorite is known for its healing properties, in particular for its ability to relieve anxiety & melancholy. It is also said to be used to dispel negativity & fear, acting as a kind of psychic armor to protect against more troubling & turbulent emotions. As a 'sister' to moonstone, Labradorite is often associated with the more "darker" aspects of the Goddess, in her Crone form, full of the experience & wisdom of life and death, associated with the darker moon: waning through new moon phases.

It is also a stone of transformation, and is said to help those with intuitive gifts to awaken and realize their full potential as well as helping enhance creative talents. It also ranks as one of the most protective stones, shielding its wearer from negativity. Much like its 'sister' Moonstone, Labradorite has been used and worn in many cultures and tribes for both its incredible natural beauty, and for its potent magical properties.

As they are entirely natural, earth made stones, color and clarity will vary from stone to stone.  Labradorite has natural lines and inclusions and varies in shades of green (teal, swamp green, olive green) to shades of (light grey to dark) blue. If you have any concerns over the stone that will be chosen for you, please contact us before making your purchase so we may best assist you.

This jewel is hand cut and therefore may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. It has not been fabricated by a machine rather it hand cut and therefore might not be uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stone and the cut.
