A fully bloomed poppy flower has been hand sculpted and cast immortal in sterling silver. Its leaves curl delicately around the finger, giving the feeling that the bloom is part of your body. 

The opium poppy has been utilized as medicine, for pain, anesthesia and sleep since ancient times. Its medicinal properties are still utilized today in some of our most important medicines, namely Morphine. It's beauty adds to its lore, as it has been used throughout Greco-Roman mythological art, appearing alongside Demeter after her loss of Persephone as a grief aid, sacred to the god of sleep Hypnos, and Nyx, the goddess of Night for her likewise associations with sleep.

Due to its poisonous qualities, it has been linked to the infamous 'witches ointment' and appears in many historical recipes for it. These ointments have been said to cause "flight", were used to curse, kill, and were also used for shape-shifting, divination, or for assistance in seeing spirits. Most likely these ointments were originally used for pain relief or for help with sleep, and utilized many of the same plants associated with the "witches garden," such as poppy, with the unexpected yet perhaps welcomed side effect of interesting dreams or altered consciousness.
