This hand was inspired by a Victorian letter clip holder and features elegant fingers, a detailed cuff, and my favorite part, a small, smooth snake curled around the wrist. Snake symbology was often used in Victorian imagery, beginning when Prince Albert proposed to Queen Victoria with a snake ring. This image represents the hand of the Medium, and their ability to "cross over" to the other side; the spirit world, to communicate with those who have left the earthly plane. These people are conduits for all we have lost and wish to glimpse again.

In the summer of 2010 I had my first encounter with a Spiritualist Medium at Lily Dale, a small, self contained Victorian town in upstate New York. We stayed in the Maplewood hotel in the center of town, complete with amazing olde floral wallpaper and ghosts. The experience changed my life, though I can't quite say in what way. 

This set of stud earrings is cast in sterling silver, oxidized and hand finished to achieve our signature shade of gloomy gray. 

The hands themselves measure just over 3/4 of an inch from sleeve to fingertip, and approximately a 1/4 inch wide.
